Our housing

There is a waiting list of approximately one year for vacant units in our buildings.  Periodically management suspends the distribution of applications when the waiting list is too long. Since the waiting list is logged into our data base system, it produces a resource list of potential tenants for our available apartments.  Tenants are selected from the waiting list according to their date of application.  Our housing stock is also comprised of a number of homeless units that are processed through referrals from the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

How to Apply for our non homeless apartment

Applicant pre-qualifications for an apartment are:

1) Applications are issued at 287 Sumpter Street (between Thomas Boyland Street and Rockaway Avenue) at the Housing Department's office.  Applications are available between the hours of  9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

2) The Housing Specialist will review the application for completeness and to insure that the applicant meets all requirements for an apartment unit according to our income and family unit guidelines.

3) Whenever an apartment unit becomes available, the Housing Specialist will contact a prospective tenant whose name is in our data base.  The applicant will be asked to come in for a screening interview.  If this interview is successful, the applicant will be asked to return for an interview with the Director of Property Management who will review all of the applicant's documents and offer the final approval for the applicant to attain an apartment.
