WHAT IS TASA

The Teen Age Services Act Program (TASA) works with pregnant or parenting adolescents who are receiving Public Assistance. TASA staff helps mothers and fathers, under the age of 20 years old, to manage their new responsibilities, take control of their lives and provide better futures for themselves and their children. Staff is readily available to work with teenagers throughout the Borough of Brooklyn.

TASA PROGRAM INCENTIVES

The program has a food pantry primarily establishd to feed our clients who may be in need of food items for themselves and/or their infants. In conjunction with this, we provide gift items for our clients throughout the year in the form of clothing, toys, etc.  The program also offers scholarship opportunities for those participants who have graduated from high school or obtained their GED.

The program welcomes donations.

What can TASA case managers do?

The case manager begins by getting to know the teen through a friendly home visit and then helps the teen to think about their real needs for themselves and their child. The next step is to work out a personal plan tailored to the teen's goals and to make referrals for services that will help them meet those goals.

The case manager visits regularly to see how the family is progressing, and they may escort the teen to obtain some services.

Most importantly, the case manager follows up with the teen and with the referral agencies to make sure that the services are being given appropriately and used to improve the situation.
