ABOUT The Dean Street Residence
Since 1987, Dean Street Residence has functioned as one of the few shelters in New York City servicing extremely large families. The average family size ranges from three (3) to twelve (12) individuals per household. Dean Street Residence provides case management services as well as a Board of Education Representative, who acts as a liaison between parents, children and their schools.
Today, in order to assist the diverse needs of our community, this facility offers: counseling, housing readiness, youth recreational activities, job preparation, independent living & life skills workshops, and conflict resolution training.
We also provide the following referral services: public assistance, employment, education, substance abuse, housing and mental health
All referrals into our shelters are made directly by New York City Department of Homeless Services.
